I love being a Health Education Major! Health is something that we use all day, every single day of our lives. Did I use geometry, geology, astrology, biology, algebra, etc. today?! No. But hello, I decided how much sleep I was going to get, what I was going to eat, how much exercise I would do, whether or not I was going to wear my seat belt, how I would handle situations, what I would do about my stress, how would I treat others, and the list goes on and on. This semester I am taking a class that is for Secondary Health Ed. majors only. In this class we split up all of the standards for the Utah State Core Curriculum. I was assigned a standard that deals with Nutrition and more specifically eating disorders. The idea is for me to gather as much information and resources as I can, make copies for everyone, and then give those copies to the other students in my class. It's been fun gathering this info and I've learned so much. My only hope for when I am a teacher is that my students will walk out of my class a better person than when they walked in. I hope that I can influence them to make healthier choices so they can live LONGER AND HAPPIER lives! The video below came from one of my good friends. She suffered from an eating disorder for over 14 years. So sad. She is amazing and I definitely consider her to be one of my heroes. She is now teaching in California and I'm sure she's changing the lives of many young people over there. Here's her story and the AMAZING video she made. I can't wait to use this in my classroom. Statistics prove I will have at least three students each semester who suffer from an eating disorder (Statistics say three but I would say more). As a teacher, if I am even able to influence one of those students' lives and help them for the better, then that will be good enough for me and my teaching mission will be fulfilled.
And on a side note, thanks to everyone who comments on my blog! I love reading your comments and I appreciate them. I know I am not as good as commenting as all of you are, but I am working on it... Just know I do read your blogs and I think about you all. Yay for blogging which keeps us all in tune with each other. I love you all!
This other video comes from Dove. Dove has an organization which promotes woman's health and focuses on the adolescent population. They are trying to teach that what we see in the media is not REAL. How great is that?! If only it worked...

Friday Night Date Night
Today in class Caleb sent me a message saying he was going to take me on a date tonight and surprise me! Caleb knew this week was a long hard week for me. I was probably a little grouchy because I had 4 tests in 3 days. I was also very tired and in much need of a fun get away date night. And I was so excited because it had been a really long time since we went on a "Friday Night Date Night." In fact, I was so excited that I went on a shopping spree and bought a whole new outfit. (I was planning on just buying a new shirt, but I found pants for only $12 at Forever 21, the best store ever, so then I had to buy new boots to go with the new pants, and they were on sale too! And I haven't been shopping in a very long time, so my shopping is very much justified. Right mom?! You taught me well.) Caleb got home from work and off we went. He started driving towards Salt Lake and I had no idea where we were going. He then went on I-215 and we went to Midvale- I think- and ended up at The Pie! Caleb always talks about The Pie and how Paul would always bring home the yummiest pizza and breadsticks. I had never been to The Pie until tonight so this was a fun surprise. The food was good, the atmosphere was fun, and it was even more fun to be on a date just me and my babe!

Six Months!
So here's the story. Everyone has such fun stories and cute pictures from Halloween on their blogs. I wish I had some cute pictures of Caleb and I that I could post, but we don't! That's becasue taking cute Halloween pictures requires actually doing something for Halloween. The fact of the matter is, we did a whole lot of nothing for Halloween this year. We joined Porter's club! (Get better P-man, we love you!) This past week was so crazy, Caleb and I didn't even feel like doing anything last night. No cosutmes, no pumpkins, no candy, nothing. Just dinner and a good ol' scary movie back at our apartment.
But today, today was such a fun day! Happy six months to Caleb and me! Caleb and I decided to go see a movie. Well, there aren't a lot of movies out right now that we want to see. So I talked Caleb into seeing "Mama Mia" with me. Ha, he probably won't EVER go to another movie I suggest. But it's something to laugh about. Oh and by the way, he wasn't the only male in the theater. Afterwards Caleb asked me what I wanted to do. I said go to the beach, I wanted to go back to the beach just like our honeymoon. So Caleb being the creative person he is, took me out to the boondocks of Utah Lake. We sat on a dock on the shore of Utah Lake and had a fun night eating our pizza and talking about Life. Oh boy, where is the time going? The last six months have gone by so fast, I guess times does really fly when you're having fun. I found some cute pictures of us from when we were dating, it's so fun to look back at all of the memories we've made and I look forward to the many more to come.
